How to create smp (state migration point) Role in SCCM 2012 Step by Step

1.     In the Configuration Manager console, click Administration.

2.     In the Administration workspace, expand Site Operations and then click Servers and Site System Roles.

3.     Select your Server of interest, right click it and select "Add Site System Roles" from the context menu

4.     At the System role Selection page select State Migration Point

5.     You need to select destination folder where user states can be stored

6.     This is the place where user data would be stored in .MIG file format.
You may have to scale your operations Servers for Free Disk space and till how many days you wanted to store the user data on server.

7.     For Step of SMP role you can review the Log to monitor the installation progress by  SMSSMPSetup.log and smpMSI.log.

8.     Once the Role installed successful, you will find information about component state in smpmgr.log file
